Registration for the 2012 GVLL Spring season is now open! Please note that some changes have been made to this original posting. Please see highlights in red for new information.

1. REGISTRATION & FEES (changes made on 1/19/12, all changes are in red)
Registration is OPEN NOW and will END on Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at 10pm.
RETURNING PLAYERS can register online NOW.
NEW PLAYERS CAN NOW REGISTER ONLINE, however, in order to complete your registration, you will need to email scanned/photographed images of proof of age and residency to gvll.contact@gmail.com
Acceptable forms of age & residency proof include:
- proof of age (passport, birth certificate)
- proof of residence (cable bill, insurance bill, utility bill, etc) that confirms that you reside within this district (more information below)
The registration fee for the 2012 Spring season is NOW $200, which must be paid by credit card if registering online.
NOTE: If you do not complete your registration, or your paperwork indicates that you are outside of GVLL’s boundary (see below), only $100 of your $200 registration fee will be refunded.
Full and partial SCHOLARSHIPS are available. If you are requesting a scholarship please contact the Registrar at gvllboard@gmail.com for the Scholarship Code BEFORE going online to register.
Registration fees include:
- cost of uniforms (jersey, baseball pants, heart guard, socks and cap)
- team equipment (including catcher’s gear, bats, balls & first aid supplies)
- professional umpires
- field conditioning supplies
- league charter and insurance.
Please note that players must provide their own mitts.
Registration is only available to players who reside in GVLL’s geographic district which is defined by the following boundaries:
- The south boundary is the north side of Canal Street.
- The north boundary is the south side of 59th Street.
- The west boundary is the Hudson River.
- The east boundary is the west side of The Bowery from Canal Street to East 6th Street; from there, the west side of 4th Avenue to Union Square; from there the west side of Broadway to 59th Street.

Roster slots are limited. Returning GVLL players who register ON TIME and ONLINE receive priority over new players but we recommend that everyone register as early as possible.
If you know that your child will have to miss more than 3 games during the Spring season, please do not register as this will hamper his/her team during the regular season.
If you are trying to register for a division that is now closed, please register your child on the 2012 Waiting List and have a completed 2012 Player Application ready in the case that room opens up.
2. DIVISIONS OF PLAY & TENTATIVE SCHEDULE*
CO-ED HARDBALL DIVISIONS:
5-6′s Tee ball – Sunday mornings at Pier 40 Rooftop
7-8′s Coach Pitch – Saturday morning practice, Sunday morning games
9-12′s Kid Pitch Minors – Saturday games and Sunday practice
9-12’s MAJORS NATIONAL – competitive, tryouts required, one weekday practice with P3 instruction, two games per weekend.
10-12’s MAJORS AMERICAN – top competitive division, tryouts with previous competitive experience required, one to two weekday practice, 2 weekend games.
JUNIORS (13-14) – Wood bats only, tryouts required, one weekday practice, two weekend games.
SENIORS (15-16)– Wood bats only, tryouts required, one weekday practice, two weekend games.
GIRLS SOFTBALL:
6-7 Girls T-ball softball
8-10 Minors Girls Kid Pitch Saturday and Sundays
10-13 Majors Girls Kid Pitch Saturday and Sundays
Player placement in softball will be made by the Division Head based on Player Evaluation and/or Coach Assessment. For more info, contact Steven White.
*Please note that all divisions are pending proper field permits which is the responsibility of the GVLL.
3. NEW RULES FOR 2012
Please note that there will be new rules in 2012 in regards to bats.
For players 12 and under (Majors and below), composite bats will no longer be allowed.
For players 13 and higher, only wood bats will be permitted.
4. KEY DATES
NOTE: Majors season begins March 30th. Practices for MAJORS/JUNIORS divisions begin in March.
Majors Tryouts: February 5th at P3
Juniors Tryouts: February 11th at P3
April 6th-7th: Passover/Easter – NO Games
April 21st: OPENING DAY EVENT & PICTURE DAY SESSION FOR ALL DIVISIONS at Pier 40–FULL UNIFORM
June 16th-17th: LAST OFFICIAL GAMES – ALL DIVISIONS & Start of Summer Tournament Season

5. VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE
1. Coach and Assistant Coach: One (of each) per team. Please indicate interest on the online registration form.
2. Field Prep: 1-2 per team ALL Divisions–Indicate interest to Coach and/or Division Head
3. Equipment Packing –Please contact gvllboard@gmail.com if interested.
4. Sponsorships—the League is in need of 1-2 people to help secure local sponsors for the 2012 season. If you can help, please contact Sponsor Coordinator Paul Theisen pjtheisen@msn.com. No experience necessary – just a few hours per week Jan-March.
6. SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
Companies, Families and Individuals can sponsor a Greenwich Village Little League team for $500 ($750 after 12/31/11) and get their name and/or logo on the back of that team’s jerseys.
Sponsors can request a specific team or division and will receive a jersey and a commemorative plaque with their team’s photo. Sponsorships are critical to the League’s ability to offer scholarships and cover the costs of running the League.
