Volunteers FAQUpdated Saturday February 11, 2017 by Greenwich Village Little League.
How can I volunteer?
GVLL is an all-volunteer organization and we ask that everyone lend a hand. We need people to be managers, team parents, event producers, marketers, webmasters and more. We ask all those who register to choose a way in which they'd like to pitch in and we expect everyone to honor that commitment. You can also download and complete the 2017 Little League of America Volunteer form, which you can find by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page. We’ll keep your request on file and contact you when need your help. Or feel free to contact the GVLL board at firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know you’d like to help out or to find out more about volunteering opportunities. You can view a list of volunteer positions and a description of their responsibilities by scrolling to the bulleted list here.
Does GVLL perform background checks on its volunteers?
Yes. All GVLL volunteers who are working with kids/coaching are required to submit to an annual background check, per Little League of America regulations.
I’d like to be a Manager or Coach. How does that process work?
Fill out the GVLL volunteer form, which you will find by scrolling to the bottom of the page here, and indicate that you would like to be a Manager or Coach. We will let you know if your help is needed before the start of the season. Please note that there are fewer spots in the Majors divisions and that positions on those teams tend to go to volunteers with prior coaching experience in the League.
Other than Managers and Coaches, what other roles are there for parents on their child’s team?
There are many ways you can help the League. If you would like to help your child’s team specifically in a role other than that of coach or manager, consider volunteering as a Safety Coordinator or Team Parent. You can read more about the duties of each here.
