Fall Divisions

Baseball Instructional

  • Co-ed Junior Minors Instructional: Little League of America 2017 ages 7-8 (players born between September 1, 2008, and August 31, 2010.

  • Co-ed Minors/Majors Instructional: Little League of America 2017 ages 9-12 (players born between May 1, 2004, and August 31, 2008)

  • All instruction takes place Sunday mornings, 8am – 11am at Pier 40

  • Parent supervision expected. Some parent coaches and volunteers required.

  • Professional Coaches provide instruction on baseball fundamentals in a fun atmosphere.

 

Baseball Majors

  • Co-ed, Little League of America 2017 ages 10-12 (players born between May 1, 2004, and August 31, 2007)

  • 1 recreational game/week with pre-game practice on Saturday or Sunday at Pier 40 or JJ Walker

  • Advanced play using a competitive game framework and age-appropriate Little League playing rules

  • General rules include stealing (no leadoffs) and infield fly rule. To avoid injuries, we monitor pitch counts and use of catchers in all games.

  • Professional umpires

  • Bats: Approved Little League of America wooden, metal bats and composite handles only. No all-composite bats allowed. Link

Baseball Upper Division

  • Co-ed, Little League of America 2017 ages 13-17 (players born between May 1, 1999, and April 30, 2004)

  • 1 game/week on Saturday or Sunday, at Pier 40, Randall’s Island and Murry Bergtraum

  • Played on 90-foot bases, 60.5 foot pitcher’s mound.

  • General rules as per spring Juniors & Seniors, season, including leadoffs and stealing. To avoid injuries, we monitor pitch counts and use of catchers in all games.

  • Wood bats only, 2 1/2 inch barrel

  • Professional umpires


 

Girl’s Softball - T-Ball

  • Girls ages 4 – 7; no previous softball experience necessary

  • Parent supervised, geared towards learning and fun; includes weekly clinics with professional coaches

  • Girls hit from T-ball stand with introduction later in the season to underhand pitching by a coach

  • Girls are introduced to the general rules of baseball/softball

  • 1 practice per week - practice includes an instructional game

  • Practices/Games are on Saturday mornings at Chelsea Waterside Park at 23rd Street between the Westside Highway and 11th Avenue, across from Chelsea Piers

 

Girl's Softball - Junior Minors

  • Girls ages 7-8; no previous softball experience necessary

  • Parent supervised, geared towards learning and fun

  • 1 practice per week that includes professional coaches

  • Practice on Saturday mornings at Chelsea Waterside Park

  • Additional occasional recreational interleague games with nearby leagues; coaches pitch

 

Girl's Softball - Minors

  • Girls ages 8-10; no previous softball experience necessary

  • Parent supervised, geared towards learning and fun

  • 1 practice per week that includes professional coaches

  • Practice on Saturday mornings at Chelsea Waterside Park

  • Girls are first introduced to many of the rules that are unique to Little League Softball, including windmill pitching

  • Additional recreational interleague game each weekend with nearby leagues

 

Girl’s Softball - Majors

  • Girls ages 10 – 12 ; some softball/baseball experience recommended, but not required

  • More competitive softball, but still instructional in nature

  • 1 team practice at Pier 40 each weekend that includes professional coaches

  • 1 interleague game with nearby leagues per weekend


 

Girl’s Softball – Juniors

  • Girls ages 12-18; softball/baseball experience generally required

  • Even more competitive (but still always fun and instructive)

  • 1 practice at Pier 40 each weekend that includes professional coaches

  • 1 interleague game with local Little Leagues per weekend
