About GVLL
Greenwich Village Little League (GVLL) was founded in 1984 by local parents for their children to play organized Little League baseball. Last year, over 800 girls and boys played on 60 teams.
We are active with play and instruction all year round. Our main event is the Spring season from April to June. We offer Summer Ball teams in July and August, then Fall Ball from September to November. Winter Ball is indoors instructions at the Pier 40, P3 facility from December to March.
Little League of America considers a child’s age for each season to be their age as of April 30 of that year; for Softball it is Dec. 31 of the previous year. For example, if a child is 10 on Dec 1, 2010, but their birthday is March 15th, they are considered 11 for the 2011 baseball season, but 10 for the 2011 softball season. We are an ALL volunteer organization. We are all inclusive, we like to have fun in our city, and we teach our children sportsmanship and to honor the game. A small army of volunteers helps in many ways including a Board of Directions, Team Coordinators, Team Managers & Coaches, Safety Officers and Umpires. Our volunteers manage Sponsorships, Marketing, Equipment, Permits and Schedules. What’s more, nearly half of our Parent members contribute in some active way such as for Registrations, Opening Day, Picture Day, and other activities.
We serve families in this catchment area:
• The south boundary is the north side of Canal Street.
• The north boundary is the south side of 59th Street.
• The west boundary is the Hudson River.
• The east boundary is the west side of The Bowery from Canal Street to East 6th Street; from there, the west side of 4th Avenue to Union Square; from there the west side of Broadway to 59th Street.

Much of GVLL’s income comes from over 70 Sponsors. Additional income comes from registration fees, donations and fund raising activities.
Greenwich Village Little League is a tax-exempt charitable organization under Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3). Our federal E.I.N. is 13-3577081. Your donations are tax-deductible to the full extent allowed by law.
GVLL is a chartered member of Little League Baseball Incorporated of Williamsport, PA. We are covered under their FEDERAL GROUP EXPEMPTION NO. 3158. Our charter no. is 232-23-16.

The Greenwich Village Little League is not a program of the State or City of New York, or the New York City Parks and Recreation, although we use their facilities and fields and are greatly appreciative of their support.
